The Anglo New Zealand Mine. Investment Company, Limited, haa secured an option over the Waiatarua Special Claim, at '.Vaitekauri. Thia claim lies immediately to the south of and adjoins ths Wait-, kauri No., 2 Goldmining Company's property, aad haa an area of 100 acres, it ia intended to amalgamate the two properties for flotation in London, thereby giving a total aroa of 210 acres. EXTENSION OF OPTIONS. Within the past few weeks the options granted to representatives of foreign syndicates for floating New Zealand mining properties have in some instances bean . extended without aDy further deposit ' being paid. Thia means that these properties are bung up until next March, and that oilera from any other companiea cannot be accepted, while tha local shareholders simply get nothing for the concession granted. In some cases the terms have even been reduced without any opposition being raised. Aa long aa thia ia permitted ib is safe to predict that flotation will bo protracted, If One cr two deposits were forfeited for nonfulfilment of contract tha effect would be boatificial. KING OF WHANOAPOUA. This property i_ situated on tho Kauri Freehold Gold E.tatea Company's property, and ia being prospected on behalf of a syndicate. The manager reports that be haa di.covered two promising reefs. No. 1 is four feet thick, and composed of good looking quartz. No. 2ia larger and shows any amount of mineral. There ara two branch leaders which also carry bright minerals. Colours of gold aro found by washing the dirt. SHAREHOLDERS PROTECTION SOCIETY. A meeting of persons interested in mining companies was hold od Doc. 12 nt tho Mining Exchange, 'Queen-street. Thero waa a fairly representative attendance. Mr Taylor presided. llrG. Sinnett zaid he had called the meeting for the purpose of considering tho advisability of forming an association to undertake the legal managenont of companies at greatly reduced rates, also to look after the more economical working of the ground. The .gentleman present agreed aa to the necessity tor the existence of some .ucii organ isdtion. It waa resolved, on the motion of Mr F. H. Lee seconded by Mr Kanchard, " That an Association be formed ior the ebjacts indicated." The following Committee was appointed, with power to i_dd to their numbers : — Messrs W. Tt.ompaor., Lee, Taylor, Burrow and Dr. Shirtey Baker. Mr Sinnett wa3 appointed Sacraiary pro tern.
