FIRE AT KAWAKAWA.

Kawakawa, this day. A fire occurred at 1.30 this morning on the premises of H. Jdiddleboa, in the main street. Tho property consisted of a twostorey dwelling and double shop—froik and ironmongery—aud a Hew small shop unlet ou the corner near a corrugated iron forge. Tho fire axtendi--'. to Joseph McCready'a bnot store, owned by John Fleab Fortunately, there was no wind.at the time, or Williatnis' hoarding-house opposite was bound to go. Middlotoa was ina^ccd in the Standard for £150. Mia lejae' are about as much again. Neither V/oCready nor Fleeb ware insured. The torm*r h»8 losi »boub £100 wortb of shock, tncbdine tools, etc Three children of Midd^ebon'B had a narrow escape, having to be dropped oni of a window and caught by Mr Dowling.
