A tea -roomed house ab Johnson, occupied by John Waters, was destroyed by fire.
A carcase of frozen mutton slipped from the slings and fell into the hold of the Mataura. The neck struck George Newton, an employee of the Nenr Zealand Shipping: Company, on the head, inflicting 8« severe a wound that he had to be removed to the Hospital. Newton had a finger cut off by a winch some weeks ago and had only just returned to work.
