A LIVELY MEETING AT WELLINGTON.
(BT TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT,)
Wellington, this day, If the audience which crowded the Opsrs House hero last night to hoar a lecture on 11 Liberby v. Prohibibion " by Mr J, Jf, Bagnall was in any way representative of public opinion in Wellington, it would indicate bhab the question of prohibition will loom large on bhe political horizon, The audience, though pabienb and goodtempered, did not lot the lecturer hat* matters all bis own way, &nd tbe prohibitionist applause and interruptions wen quite as strong as tboee of the sitti< prohibitionisb section of tha audience. Some faeliug was imported into tbe proceedings when a show of hands was called for on a resolution condemning pro< hibition, As the chairman did not announce the result, this brought forth loud cries of " 800 !" and counter cries of ••Hurrah!" Tho lecturer's refusal to r eply to questions was also tbe cause of a similar outbreak, and the proceeding! terminated abruptly and lomewbat aoiiilf.
