The Union Steamship Company.? steamer Monowai left San Francisco on November I'2-h, timetable data. Mr A. R. Barker (champion cash cyclist of New Zealand) intended this afternoon to make an attempt to beab his time of 2min 34 l-Btb sec for one mile of a grass track, which he put up laßb Saturday. At 2 p.m., however, it was found that one of the pacemakers, Mr F. Hunt, had met with an accident, and could not ride. The wind also was too strong, co bhab the attempt had to be abandoned. The best Auckland time for one mile is 2min 30aec, put up by Mr E. Reynolds, tbe amateur champion.
