MAYORAL ELECTIONS.
MR A. BOARDMAN RETURNED FOR
THE CITY
To-day nominations tell duo for the office of Mayor of Auckland. Mr A. Boardman was the only candidate nominated, so that he is returned unopposed. M. Boardman 'is an old Auckland resident, and for many yaurs past has taken an interest in the municipal affairs of the city. Nominations for the other boroughs of the city also closed ab noon to-day. Mr J VV. Shackelford, who has been for six years a member of the Newton Borough Council, was returned as Mayor of thab borough, hia being the only nomination. For the borough of Parnell Mr J. Thornes was elected, being unopposed. For Newmarket Mt J. M. Laxon, and for Birkenhead Mr C. E. Button, M.H.R., were the only candidates nominated, and were, therefore, also declared elected by the returning officer. For Devonport borough tharewill require to be an election, Mr E. Dutton and Mr J. C. Mackv (Macky, Logan, Steen and Co.) having both been nominated, To-day M. Joseph Thornea was elected Mayor of Parnell, there being no other candidate nominated.
