CATTLE.
This section is undoubtedly one of the hardest to giv6 on opinion on us to the improvement 01 otherwise on previous Shows. We aro inclined to think, however, that thia year's display of cattle, striking a line through all classes, ia an improvement on what wo have yob seen here. The development of the dairy industry throughout the wholo of the Waikato has had its natural effects in bringing about a great interest in the breeding of cattle, and this in directly reflected in our local Show. Shorthorna are, as usual, the biggest division, and VVm. Taylor, with thab woll-known prize winner, Dnke of Clydrvale, Bakes first prize for bull, three years old and over. All the other first prizas in pedigree shorthorns fall t-"1 the Naw Zealand Lam' Association, who have a large number of good beasts entornd. In grade shorthorns, Robert Hall is the largest exhibitor, and to him falls the lion share of the prizao, bub T. R. Clow takes first for bull, three years and over, with a tine stamp of animal. Ayrßhireo are a Btnaller class than !ast year. and W. Pellow i* the principal prize taker. Most of the prizo winners in this breed are bred by J. McFarlane, of Dunedin, who had such a larjje and fine stamp of entries at last year's 6how. Pedigree Polled Angua are shown only by ttto Kereone estate, there being no competition, but fcho animals shown are the finoab of the grand display of thia breed shown ab the Waikato Show last month. From Alderneye and Jerseys one misses the exhibit of MrF. L. Wright, who this year acta- as judge, but E. A. Price's, F. A. White's, and U. Day's cattle show that the breed is a favourite one. The dairy cattle are good, bin; it cannot be said that the fab cattle are anything out of the way as a class, although some of them are really good.
