MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.

Pqsc Consolidated.—The No. 1 -level: In addition to the extension, 6ft of the reef was also broken down./ The lode here is fully 2f bin thickness, heavily charged with pyrites, and shows daba of gold. The country .is all that one could wish for, and the fitrotch on pay ore is increasing daily. No. 2 level: The country is very tight, and difficult to break, in consequence of this the lode hat 1 nob exceeded 15in, bub now there is every indication of it swelling to its usual dimensions. The Chairman's reef: The lode looks promising, and produces gold throughoub its full thickness of 4ft. ,

Talisman Extended.— The drive to intersect the Marmion Extended reef: The country is of a firab-elaas description for gold-bearing reefs.

Mat Qoeen Extended.—ln preparing a paddock in which to stack quartz, broke oub about) tour loads of good looking quartz in which there is a large amount of goodlooking minerals.

Hadraki North.—Driving ahead to the west on the reef at No. 1 level, and obtained come very nice stone on Saturday along the floor of the level, which looks well for sold being met with at the lower level. The rise : The country overhead is still intact, which means that there is a good block of ground here ready for stoping out. There are fully 25 tons good ore to grass.

New Zealander.—-No. 1 level: After breaking through nine feed of quartz a head was met) with which threw the vein more to the north. The stone looks well being thickly set with mineral, and the country is of a very good description. The level on the crop of No. 2 reef, western side of the creek : The atone is of an excellent description.

CoMßiocK.--No change to report in the appearance or Biza of the lode. In the present face the reef is a compacb body of quartz from three bo four feet wide.

Bboken Hill. — Very little work has been dona in the crosßcab during the past week, m the men have been engaged fixing up the track for the packing of quart z. One ton fcftfl been brought bo town.

WA&KAUBi Sodth.— The. reef in the crostcus, or surface level, haa given dish prospects for the lasb 20fb driven, and continues to do bo. In the low level, this reel has been driven on a distance of UOffc j for the first 30ft this reef gave very fair proßpecfce, when broken country was met with and the reef was greatly disturbed and broken. This continued for a distanc*-: of 10ft, .when solid country was again inet> with, and the reef made again, though not bo large as formerly. Afc present ife is abonb 2ft wide, and very nice looking quartz, very heavily mineralised. The country »a»; splendid blue sandstone. Bendioo.— Driving on No. 1 reef will bo started during the week. About 10ft has! been driven in No, 3 reef, which is about; 2f b thick. We can see gold in the diib' when washing off. v Scandinavian.— The reef still continues small and therefore tho onbpufc of qnaWa: ia limited. Putting in two shifts this week to push the drive ahead to where I expect to meet with an improvement. The reef ia carrying excellent minerals and though we have seen no gold in the stone fair prospects by pounding. i Tandem. —The reef rising eaßb is about2fb wide with somewhat better prospects than before. Driving west a distance of 3fo has been driven for the week. The reef is broken bub the stone and strata in which it exists are of a most promising character. s GbeatNobthekn.—Started a prospecting drive to cub reef showing in trench at north" end of ground. This drive haß advanced, 25ft for the week, and a further distance of 40fb Bhould put us under the spot aft which reef is outcropping. Conquest.—Wo have been poshing ahead with the crosscut from lower level. The country is of a very favourable descrip« tion, bub very much broken. I expect to cut reef in more solid country in another twenty feet or bo. I have two men engaged on the big reef, which is from three to fontf feet in thickness with splendid stone, heavily mineralised, but bb yeb we have eeen no gold. Belmost. — The crosscub to cub tba Komata roef, or any other that may be running in this direction, is in 63fb and timbered up to the face. Small quarts , veins have been met with, and some loose quartz has been carried along the floor of the driva for tho whole distance. The country ia a little broken,, but otherwise good for lodes. In the face at. present the country ie firmer, and water is issuing from, the floor of the level. Duke of Akgyle.—The country islpok-V ing firsb-class, and a little gold is being Rot from the leader, which is carrying good, looking stone, giving excellent mineral in-, dications. Trenching is also being continued on the big reef, and better prospect^ are coming to hand, gold being got in bhe' loose, and also by pounding and washing the stone. Am starting a level on the big reetin order to geb under where thebeaß" prospecbß are being obtained on the surface.' . ."...;;■; ' J^i'Rj Katie.—l have cub Aitkin's reef in tho» drive. The stone is good, and prospects well in the dish by pounding and washing, - which shows rough gold. There ia a, very large, body of water from it, and is about, . two feec thick, and will let you know if ", anything further comes up- tj Waihi -El • Dohado. — The distanca '! driven for the lass 14 days is 23ft. The formation continues of a good qlaes of sandstone country, and a laree number of stringers are showing in the face of bbc tunnel. I have passed several leaders, No. 4is a nice 6tone heavily mineralised.- Ib is my opinion this leader is coming from thfl big lode on the surface outcrop ; this lode is 40ffc wide, its strike is north and south, % and its pitch is east. Ab 83fb I can«:\7 not cub this outcrop lode, the .$ foot of the wall is in the tunnel. I estimate the cost tocresscub the foobwallof; Jthe outcrop ab £5 per foo* at the presenl distance driven. Today I change tha\ direction of the tunnel-north-eaat, .fep.cW, the outcrop lode of Btone as speedily168, . possible ; the distance from the surface, outcrop to level of tunnel is about 60 fee'V X and finding this mineralised'leader I expect good rasulta. "The mine is promising antf. requires care and judgment. To crosscut this large lode boo early in my opinion will not bring good results. . .' *• Mata Reefs.—Men have been prospeoJ' ing on the eastern side of the Nikau Valley . lease. The surface is very deep, making it difficult to locate a. line of reefs. On eoubh-easb side there is a large reef running into'the Nikau ground, which ia well worth following up. ,-One man is engaged tracing up another large reof treading towards tba Mata section. Both reefs look promising. A nice leader has also been discovered on the Jay Gould section about two inches thick, giving good dish prospects. " ■
