MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.

Albubnia East. —Eight feeb have been driven for the week. The rock has undergone no change. New What/.— The men have been engaged putbing in timber to secure ground that was likely bo give way. Hattraki No. 2.—The shaft has been sunk a further depth of 4fb through tighb country in which mineralised quartz and stringers are found. The water haa nob increased.

Moanataiari North.—Since last report bhe main reef ha 3 been discovered on the foobwall side of the slide and looks very well, being .aboub 18in thick, and encased in a splendid sandstone counbry. Aboub 20ft of driving will bring bhe drive directly under the run of gold in the upper level. Purist.—No. 2 leader averages aboub 12in in thickness, and by pounding up some of the quartz a fair prospect of gold can be oboained. The country through which the leader traverses is of a splendid class of sandstone for gold.

Napier.—The No. 1 leader v the same as at laet report.

Clunes.—The reef ia now three foot bix inches wide. Some kindly looking vernal quartz with mineral are coming into the reef from the hangingwall. , Welcome Find (September obn).-—J><o > & Jueb-in-Time lode, bottom level: A stope has been carried along the back of the drive for a distance of 45 feeb, and the lode taken down. It) averages about air inches in width, and looks, well for gold. Southern lode: Expect fco break down about) tha middle of next) week. Intermediate level: We are crosa-cuibing to southern lode. The country is of the aame description as that) in the stopo below. Hope to strike the lode in a few days* Gem of Hatjeakl—Have discovered a very tine reef adjoining bhe Progress Castle Rock claim, and, from its course, ib should be the same reef from which that Company are getting gold. I have also f,ound an outcrop of another large reef, and from appearance of atone should be gold-Anglo-Saxon.—The mine manager wired to-day :— " Cut reef in the low level lfb 6in wide* Good prospecbs. Coarse gold by washing and pounding." . Royal Sovereign.— Still driving on the reef, which is of a kindly nature. Norman. — Two tunnels have been started to intersect two differenb reefs; one Bhould be cub in about nine days. . Mountain Flower.— One man has been employed surface prospecting and cutting through a mass of quartz veins which appear to be the outcrop of a reef composed of kindly looking quartz, but co far no gold has been obtained. Zion.—There is no change in the country that we are penetrating in tho crosscut, which sbill maintains its favourable appearance. To-day, on the west side of the range, we discovered the outcrop of a reef three feet wide, which looks fajirly well. A drive is being put in to intersect) the reef lower down. Pride of Haubaki. —Four feet have been sunk on Jones's leader, making a total of 16 feeb. The leader has been split) up considerably, but gold can still be gob by pounding: The new leader is undoubtedly a specimen one at a lower depth, and should crush well all through. j Royal Shield (Wharekeraupunga).— Can find the outcrop of at least) four different reefß, varying from about 2 feeb to 6 or 8 feet bhick, besides which I have found indications of quartz in other place*. On the Royal Standard there is a large reef known as Keane'a roef. This Bhonld, according to the compass, run into your ground. Komata Triumph (Komata).—Have been doing a great deal of surface prospecting, chiefly trenching, with the result that we struck a new reef to-day running righb through the ground. Have trenched across it in several places, and find the average thickness to be 12 feet. The quartz is of a kindly nature, and 1 consider thiß to be a good discovery. Golden Link. — Specimen leader : For the lasb five feeb tho leader has improved very much. Gold is seen freely through the quartz when breaking the leader down. We are also getting'into a splendid class of sandstone country. No. 2 level on the Bame leader: The counbry here has been very much broken. This has knocked the leader about, bub small prospecbs can be got by pounding. A nice class of sandsbone is now coming in the face. Excelsior.—The men are working on the hangingwall ot No. 1 reef, which shows 12 feob in width on the Burface.

Sooth Bbitish.—The Dubbo level is in 170 feeb to dato. Within the lasb few feeb a decided improvemenb haa baken place in the counbry. Thero is every indication that the lode is close ahead.

Lobna Doone. — Trenching operations have been carried on, easterly, unearthing several small veins of quartz, but nothing of importance. The reef is brending through nearly bhe who)e,of the. mine. A short crosßCUb, say 50 feeb in length, would cub the reef, and by driving on its hangingwall would inbe'rsect all leadors coming in from tbe Morning Star ground. Komata.—A reef over 30 .feeb in width has beon cub, which gives good dish prospects. KAriE.—Aibken'a reef, haa been cut two feet in width. Ib giveß prospecta of coarse gold. Marineb,—There is no change in the reef ab No. 1 leveh No. 2 level is in 45ft through nice brown and white sandstone, in whioh iron veina and ribs of quartz are meb with.

Espebanza.—The drive is in 120fb.

Waitekauri No. 2.—Another leader Bin wide haa been cub by trenching in goodlooking country, also aome fair loose, quartz. . Kabangahake.—Another leader has been intersected which gave fair prospects. A few colours of gold can be gob from bhe big reef. Heitman's Freehold.—The low level haa been extended 30 feet, making 72 feet from the shaft. There ia no change in the country. Ladas.—A number of reefß run bhrough tbe claim, some of which I am now opening up, and in my next report will be able to apeak more definitely concerning them. Waihi Consols.—Tho crosscut from the Waihi West shaft has been extended 24fb. The ground is getting much softer. So far noquartz has been meb wibh. Crescent.—A reef hae been traced on the surface, and several outcrops found. In the Orient section the reef still gives fair proapecta. Matavba.—The drive haa been extended a further distance of tea feeb, making a botal distance now driven of 125 feeb. So far nothing bub small veins from four bo six inches thick have been intersected. Tbe country that the drive ia passing through ia everything bhab could be desired for gold. '
