Re-Bcraped has easedt in price, some parcels having changed hands aft a considerable reduction upon the nominal market rate. Timber mills are as busy as ever, as the building trade is now very brisk and orders are being sent in freely. In the euburbs hatadsoMe dwellings are now m course of •rection, many being put up by lucky investors 6h the Stock Exchange, who are wisely securing eoine of their pronb. The paßfi week haa been a quieb one on the Exchange, Cheaper stocks being neglected. The principal business has been in Thames stocks, froe transactions being reported in Norfolks and City of Dttnedin shares, the former selling at) 7s and the latter ab 3s 4d. Monowais advanced from 6s 63 to 7s, Victorias advanced to 3s 10d, andSheridans from Is W to 2s Id,_ with numerous sales at 2a. City of Auckland Bhares trieb wibh steady Bala ab Is 7d, while Cambriaa rose from 2s 4d to <2s 10d. Kuaotanu stocks had little inouiry beyond a steady demand for Try Flukes ab 13s 6d, Golden Links at Is 5d and Jupiterfi ab 5s 6d. Coromandel stocks had a downward tendency, with the exception of Welcome Finds, which rose from 4s 6d to 5s 6d in consequence of another load of picked stone. Upper Thames stocks were not in much demand until the lasbdayor two, when a better inquiry set in. The best feature of the market was a steady advance in high-priced shares. Buyers of Woodatocka increased their offers from 43s to 46s wibhoub eales resulting. WaitekaUria sold at £5 10a, with still buyers at £5 Bai while Waihi-Sitverbons wdre in demand ab 52s 6d. Talismans fcaanged hands freely ab 15s 6d and Centrals were in Bteady demand throughout the week ab 3s 4d, _ with numerous Bales ab 3s sd. All this points to English buyers having once more commenced to operate on the local markeb, which is a very encouraging sign, pointing to an early revival. Wheat. During the pasb week there have been heavy arrivals of milling wheat from the South, both by steamers and Bailers, and also from the East Coast and Waikato. The markets are a shade firmer, bobh in this colony-and,Also in England. A fair amounb of business has been done during the week at full rates. Fowl Wheat ia selling more freely than ib was.

Seed Wheat.—lt) is pleasing to be able to reporb good sales of seed wheat this seaeon, and our farmers are acting wisely in patting down a large area this season in wheat, as everything points to this cereal paying bebter than any other next harvest. Bran and Sharps are dull of sale, as the mild weather haa made feed plentiful in the country districts this winter. FLOtrß.—Sales have nob been heavy daring the past week, bub orders for the fifsb of nexb month came in freely during the laab day or two. MaiZE.—About 400 sacka arrived this week by bhe Waiotahi and another cargo is on board bhe Chelmsford. The market is, if anything, a Bhade weaker, sales being made this week ab 2s 6d and 2s 7d. The quality of the maize coming to hand is very good. Oats.—The low freight offering in the South caused a free sale in oats for axporb, And the result has been to cause the market to firm a libble. Locally there has nob been any change. Potatoes.—This market) is a little easier, owing to unusually heavy arrivals during the past week, and the price ex (store is now £3 15s. Hobarb seed meet with ready sale ab £i per ton. Onions are a little easier this week, as the firsb consignment of the Californian crop is expected by the next 'Frisco mail steamer, due on the 11th.

Butter and Egos are both being senb in very freely, and a further fall in price is by no means improbable, although it would seem that 6d per dozen wholesale is quite low enough for eggs.
