CENTRAL.
The transfer of the Central and Pilot properties at Waitekauri to the Enghah Company that has been floated in London is now registered; and a cable to that effect has been sent Home. The £5,000 purchase money being already lodged in London, will, no doubt, be remitted shortly after receipb of the news of the transfer, lhe name of the new Company is the Waitekauri Union Goldmines (Limited). ROYAL SOVEREIGN. The manager of thia Company has brought up to town some stone (taken from a big reef) showing gold. THE CROWN'S RIGHT TO THE DARWIN. The manager telegraphed thia afternoon :—*'Broke down No. 1 reef. Eight incheß wide. Strong dabs and colours of gold showing." ROYAL METALS. In the House of Representatives Mr MeGowan, in asking if the Government would appoint a Royal Commission to report on the question of ownership or right to minerals en lands alienated under any act or ordinance, said he asked the question in the interest* ot a large number of miners who have some doubt on the subject, owing to the action of persons whe are owners of freehold on which gold ha» been discovered. ... i The Hon. A. J. Cadman said, in reply, that the Government had no intention ot setting up such a Commission, but expressed the opinion that the Crown s right to Royal mebala did nob pass from ie when the freehold .was disposed of.
