BUNKER'S HILL.
(from our own correspondent.)
(Jorom an dfx, bbis day,
The main crosscut is steadily advancing, the face being in a distance of over 152 ft from the shaft, and still carrying with ib bhe same mosb favourable country, full of mineral veins, silica seams, etc., all of which must excite a Btrong influence on bhe character of the reefs or leaders into which they strike. The S.B. drive on No. 1 reef is in 16fb, bntwork has boon discontinued in this direction to admit of tho putting up of a rise preparatory to the opening up of a block on the reef for the purpose of sfcoping oub. The N. W. drive is 20ft along, bub aa the lode i>i this quarter has been stripped for the whole distance, no exacb idea can be formed yeb as to ibs size or quality. Breaking down will, however, commence to-day, when, doubtless, a more correct estimate of its possibilities will be obtainable. It is on Legge'B leader, however, bhab the greatest faith is placed for the discovery of specimens, and as this body remains yeb to be inberaecbed by the crosscut, there exists a big field for expectation, for, with the splendid country being carried along, it will be most extraordinary if something satisfactory does nob result.
