FREEMANS BAY RECLAMATION.

At the meeting of the City Council last evening a.copy of the terms on which the Harbour Board is prepared to transfer the Freeman's Bay reclamation for a recreation ground to the City Council waa read. The terras have already been published in the Star.

The Mayor explained thab the Legal Committee of the Council had met the Harbour Board Committee and the terms read were the only terms the joint bodies could agree to. He asked expressions from the Council on the matter.

Mr Farrell said it waa a big question and that ib had better be deferred for a full meeting ot the Council. He moved that the matter stand till the next meeting of the Council.

Mr Gsrratt eaid it opened up a big ques tion of desirability and cost.

It was then resolved to defer the matter till next Council night.

In connection with the Hat-boar Board terms, Mr J. Becroft wrote "88 one of those who will help to pay the piper" to enter his protest against the, excessive valuation set down by the Harbour Board. The Mayor moved bhab ft reply be sent to Mr Becroft) that ho will have an opportunity to object when the matter it put before the ratepayers.

This was agreed to.
