GOLDEN HILL EXTENDED (MANAIA.)
(PBOM ODE OWN COBBESFONDEST.}
Coromandel, this day,
The work of erecting a battery is being puihed on vigorously, and ib is expected that in a siiorb time everything will be ready ia make a start. At present the stampers and box are in position, the engine ia also in its place, and the two will be connected early next) week. Some IS or 20 tons of quartz are already paddocked up outside the levels, and a block of ground is being opened up in readineee for stoping as soon a« the battery starts. Other works in the mine are proceeding much as usual. A new leader has, I believe, been intersected in the crosscut measuring 6in in thickness and carrying gold, and it is intended to open out on it at once. In addition to this a couple of men are engaged trenching on the Golden Hill boundary with the object of picking up the reef of the same name.
