WORLD'S STUDENT CHRISTIAN FEDERATION.

ADDRESS BY MR JOHN R. MOTT

The first of a series of addresses by Mr John R. Motb, General Secretary of the World's Student Christian Federation, on the subject " A Message from the Students of Europe and America to the Students of Australasia." was delivered in the chemical lectuie room of the Auckland University College this morning. The Most Rev. Bishop Cowte, the Primate, presided. There were present: Canon Nelson, Reva. Cnrzon Siggers, W, J. Williams, J. Crump, R. F, Macnicol, Ferguson, Pastor Blaikie and others, together w.itfa several prominent citizens interested in the moral and religions upbringing of the rising generation. Mr Motb's address was of a highly interesting and effective character. His style is simple and earnest a^id not a word was wasted. The lecture contained a lot of new and interesting information. Mr Mott gave a brief sketch of the rise and development of the movement in the United States and Canada, tho British Islands, India and elsewhere, and stated thab Australasia was the only parb of tho English-speaking community where tho work had nob been commenced. Scepticism was everywhere on the decline in the universities of the world. The number of students who make an open profession of Christianity was continually on bhe increase, and never before in the history of the world were so many young persons coming forward to devote themselves to the work of missions. Those who heard Mr Motb this morning anticipate for his meetings a pronounced success; At the conclusion the Primate announced that Mr Motb would speak ab the Church Congress to-night.
