WAIKATO NOTES.
Hamilton, Wednesday. The Hamilton Borough Council meb on Tueedoy evening when there were present: His Worship the Mayor, Mr W. Dey (Chairman), and Crs. C. Tippen, S. Davie, J. Beatoy, H. Tristram, D. Salmon, R. F. Sands and 11. J. Gwynne.
Tho Works Commibteo were requested to inspect the gully near 'Rothwell's in Claronco-sbreeb, wibh power to act.
On the question of the £190 for auctioneers' fees which the Borough alleges have beon wrontrly paid to tho Waipa County Council, tho Borough's solicitor informed them that he had demanded payment, and had received a reply from tho County Council's solicitor declining to pay the amount. Tho matter was left in the power of the Legal Committee. The Town Clerk said tho County Council's Chairman had expressed his willingness to pay this year's fees. Tho caretaker of tho Hamilton Baths wroto slating that the bathing season was now over, and ib had boon a very poor ono financially, owing to the youths bathing in the lake and the river.
The Chief Surveyor forwarded approved plnnß for the widening of tho embankment ut tho Hamilton traffic bridge. His Worship considered this wae a bad time of tho year to commence oarthworks, and both ho and Cr. Tippen were in favour of asking the Government to allow the vote to stand over until tho spring. An amewdmenb was proposed bhab'the work should bo proceeded with at onco. This was carried.
Tho Works Committee wero nuked to inspecb the road over Gibbon's Creek culvorb, and were empowered to acb wibh a view to making somo improvements.
The overdrafb was stated to be £735 4s 7d.
The Foreman of Works was instructed to inspoct the baths, which are reported to be slipping inbo the river, and reporb at nexb meeting.
