Hamilton, this day. The Vv aipa Ccyunty Council met at Ohaape yesterday. Present: Cra. Atkinson (chair* x

man), Kusafoa, Teasdale, Vickers, Allen, Smith, Finch, Mandeno and Harris.

It was resolved to explain to the varioHS* Councils and Boards in the district that this Council has no intention of putting a tax on bicycles, but simply wishes to regulate the traffic in the matter of lamps, etc. The/Engineer reported that aba Commit* tee meeting held a short time ago tha folio/wing tenders were accepted for various works:—Whatawhatahoe Road, C. M. Alexander ; Innesfallen Road, R. Carter j M.angapiko Bridee, C. M. Alexander; Cambridge- Ohaupo Road, W. and J» Harris ; Paterangi Road, J. T. DrumgboL. The action of the Commitbee was endorsed.

On the recommendation of the Engineer it was decided to request Mr Alexander to. proceed with contracts without delay. Ib waa reported ■ that the Cambridge Bridge had been completed, at a cosb.of £101 10s 4d. The ehinglo ordered froaa Otarohanga for the Te Awamutu Road had all arrived and had been carted on US the road by carters free of charge.

The Engineer also recommended a namber of small repairing jobs throughout the district.

The report was read and adopted. . It wan decided to, plant a finger post near Slates, ab/cost of 30s.

A long' discussion ensued as to what portion of the To Awamutu Road, the £10 vote should be expended on. The engineer was requested to inspect a culverb near F. B. Jolly's, ab Frankbon, and a bridge between the creamery and boiling-down works at Whatawhata. He the auctioneers' fees paid to the Council for Borne years paab and now claimed by the Borough of Hamilton, MrL. O'Neill, solicitor, gave it as hie opinion that the borough had no legal er equitable claim to the money, which had been paid to the proper body, and he informed tha Council that he had written bo the borough declining to pay the money demanded. It was decided to execute only those repairs which are absolutely necessary on the Whatawhaba swamp road, and to contribute 30s towards the cost of draining the mission property in Te Awanautu, reported to ba flooded. The Engineer was asked to inspect the bridge, reported unsafe on the Inneefallen Road.
