CITY SCHOOLS COMMITTEE.

The ordinary meeting of the City School 8 Committee was held last nighfe. Present : Mr J. Blades (Chairman), Drs. Walker and King, Mesera Farrell, Squirrell, Crowe, Fairs, Adamß. ■ >

Chapel-street School.—A letter waa read from the Secretary of the Board of Education stating that plans would be prepared for an enlargement of the Chapel-streeb School building for 250 scholars in all at a cost of £300.—The letter was received.

Relieving Teacher.—The Secretary of the Board of Education wrote thab Mrs Rooney had been appointed relieving teacher at Wellealey-streeb School. Increase in Salary.—Mr Alberb W. B. Davis, second assistant of Napier-sb. School, asked the Committee to recommend to the Board an application' for increase in hia present salary of £80. He pointed oub thab other teachers, holding equal, and, in some cases, lower positions, were receiving larger ealaries.—The request was granted.

.School Fund Accounts.—The abstracb of the school fund accounts," audited by Mr J. G. Carr, was presented. The accounts showed a credit bVince of £43 14s Bd.

Election. -^-The Chairman announced thab bub one more meeting of the Committee would be held before the election. Thi3 would take place nexb 'Tuesday, when he would have the report in readinese. It was agreed to announce the election in the usual way. Rkpoets. — The head-masters' con fidential reports on the teaching: staff wore read. It waa reßolved to* draw the attention of the Board to the report on probationers in Wellesley-street School.
