MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
The bhird annual meeting of bhe Auckland centre of the St. John Ambulance Association was held on August 9th at the V.M.C.A. Building. His Worship the Mayor presided. Mr J. Barber, Honorary Secretary, road the annual report. Subsections had, ib was stated, been formed at the Thames and at Gisborne. During the year 9G members had gained certificates, 83 first aid and 13 nursing, making a total of 663. The balance-sheet showed a debit balance of £40. On tho motion of Dr. Daweon, seconded by Dr. Walker, the report? and balauco-aheeb wore adopted. Mrs Holland then presonted the certificates gained during the year by the successful candidates. Votes of thanks wsro accordod to tho Honorary Medical Staff, to tho outgoing officers, to the Mayor for tho use of his room, and to the City Council for tho uso of the Committee room, Municipal Buildings. Mr Pilkington read the annual report of the Auckland Corps Ambulance Brigade, showing a small debit balance. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted ns follows : —Pres-idont, bho Mayor (Mr J. J. Holland); Vico-prcsidents, Canon Calder, Rev. Dr. Egan, Roy. Scott West, Dr. Dawron, Dr. King, Mr Thomas Buddie ; Committeo, Mesdames J. J. Holland, Caldor, Dawson, Scott West, Miss Girdler, Rev. G. B. Monro, Messrs John Abbott, J. Barber, VV. Brakenrig, W. T. J. Bell, M. Clark, J. C. Macky, C. J. Tunks, A. G. Pilkington, J. L. Wilson, and the members of tho Hon. Medical Staff, with power to add to thoir number; Auditor, Mr Chns. A. Jonas. Tho oiiices of Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer v/ore left to bo filled up by tho new Committee.
