The brigantine Zeno, which arrived at Melbourne on the Bbh instant from Kaipara, encountered a terrific N.E. gale, with mountainous sea, during the passage. Heavy volumes of water swept over the vessel. A boat and water tank were smashed up, and a portion of the bulwarks was washed away. A seaman was swept againsb the deckhouw, and had his ribs broken.

The Union Company's steamer Tarawera made fast to Quebn-streeb wharf ati 7.30 his morning. The purser, Mr G. Sadler, to whom we are indebted for files, etc., reporbß that the Tarawera left the Sydney wharf at 6.50 p.m. on the 14tb, and cleared the Heads at -7.30 p.m. ; had the Three Kings abeam ab 10.40 a.m., and rounded the North Cape ab 3 p-m. yesterday, the 18th, arriving as above stated. Experienced variable winds and fine weather till abeam of North Cape, thence strong head winds and sea to arrival.
