HAMILTON NEWS.
A meeting of the Waikato Horticultural Society was held in tho Commercial Chambers, Hsmilton, on Thursday morning, to consider the advisability of amalgamating with the Waikato Fruitgrowers' Association in tho matter of holding future shows in tho district. The euggestion came from the Fruitgrowers' Association, who inbond holding a show, and would like to work in with bhe Waikato Horticultural Socioty. It was resolved that tho Horticultural Society ngree to amalgamate with the Fruitgrowers' Association, and thab tho credit balance of the Horticultural Socioty, viz., £7 2si 9d, should be handed over to tho Fruitgrowers' Association if they agree to hold the ahoAvs triennially at Te Awamutu, Hamilton, and Cambridge, aa heretofore. A hearty vote of shanks was passed to Mr Dyer for his servicos as Secretary for some years past.
On Saturday evening last tho patients ab the Hospital here had a rare treat given thorn by the surgeon, Dr. G. G. Kenny, who had arranged for a concert for tho patients, and which was carried out most successfully under his immediate supervision and instruction. Mr J. Homus played the violin, Mrs Kenny violincollo, Dr. .Kenny double bass, and Miss Searancke the piano, and a very nice little orchestra ib was. Miss Soarancke played a piano solo; waltz, " Flowers of Australia," orchestra. Other items were : Song, " Old and New," Nurse Deacon; "Rip Van Winkle Lancers," orchestra; piano solo, Miss Wright; song, "Tho Star that Lichts a Sailor Homo," Dr. Konny ; waltz, " My Polly," orchestra.
