Wellington, this day./ Four bushfellers, named Loader, Smiths Salisbury, and Hobman, were snowed up on the Tarurua bills, near Carterton, a few days ago. The men beiug. shorb of provisions on Friday went pig huntirig, and separated into two parties, but never mefe. They were caught in a snowstorm and losb their way. Smith and Salisbury struggled on, bub Loader was knocked up. Search parties have gone to look for the latter, and a report is current thab his. body has been recovered, bub ib is nob confirmed. Hobman returned to Greytown yesterday. All four were much exhausted, and Buffering from exposure. LATER. The search party from Carterton found Loader frozen to doath where he was left. He was a strong young fellow, the only support of a widowed mother. Smith says they were huddled round a small fire, and had ,to stay there as the snow was so thick they could nob see where they were going. His trousers bad been born away and he had no hab. On Tuesday they became desperate, and wadad through snow to the armpibs on to the main range. They had had noting to cab since Sunday nighb. Loader became exhausted, and Smith and Salisbury carried him until Smith himself collapsed. They lef b Loader covered up wibh leaves, and made anobher attempt, bub failed through exhaustion, and lay in the snow all night. Next day they managed to crawl to a houge, Salisbury having lefb Smith leaning over a fence. This house was Knubsen's. He says the men did nob lead him bo believe Loader was in a critical state, and he did nob trouble much aboub him.
