In order to giye farmers full advantage of Governmenb .control of the railways, tho Governmenb'have decided* after full coneiderabion, to make a reductiou equal to twenty per, cent, oil current rates on the carriage of firewood, posts aud rails, lime for apricultural purposes, limestone, animal manures, and scrap iron, under the now rates, which have nob yet; been gazetted, as tbe Government are desirous of making arrangements with manufacturers of agricultural lime, in Order to secure for farmers full and direct benefit of the proposed reduction. The charge for carriage of firewood over a distance of seventy miles, which is now £2 per truck of six tons, will be 31s wd. :
