Dritnkenness. — Alfred Carleon pleaded pmlty to his second offence of drunkenness within six months and was dismissed with a caution.—James Scanlon" was fined 5a or in default 24 hours'.

The girl Hambley was an old offender in this reppecb, but the younger one had only recently made her appearance amongst the re9t. The latter belonged to a very respectable family. — Constable Bailey de- : posed to the accused Hambley as being the means of a largo number -of other girls being led into this kind of life. She was always associating with men-of-warsmen.— Mr J. Strathern gave evidence with roference to fcha girl Kerr. Her mother, who was in receipt of charitable aid, had done all she could for the accused, bub the latter appeared determined to lead a life of immorality. If the Bench gave her another chance she might be induced to improve her ways ; she was nob yet 15 years of age.—Mr Northcroft said it was a pity the men who associated with her were nob also brought up before him. He would adjourn tho case against Kerr till the 12th of January to see if she improved her conduce, bub would, sentence the other girl Hambley, who had jusb come out of gaol, to two months' impriHonmenb wtfch hard labour. . ■ -
