Wellington, this day. A man named William Smith, recently irom Auckland, has been arrested on a charge of obtaining goods by fraud. Ho bad it ia alleged, entered into an arrangement for tho purchasing of property at the Hutb for £4,000, and was negotiating for £500 worth oJ furniture. The accused had, it is alleged, taken in several tradesmen, including tiulors, grocers, etc. The prisoner, who was remanded, bus, ib is alleged, no means whatever.
