PARNELL BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Parnell Borough Council held their asual fortnightly meeting ab thair offices, Parnell, yesterday evening, when the following gentlemen were present:—Messrs I}. S. Kissling (Mayor), Briggs, Page, ?ollard, Whitley, Thomas, Withy, Wright, Fhorne and Mrs Matson.
Clkveland Road.—Mrs Isabella Bagot, Birkenhead, wrote re the formation of a footpath in front of two houses owned by jor in Cleveland Road.—The letter was re;erred to the Streets Committee.
Tennis Lawns.—A letter was recaived from the Socretary of the Parnell Lawn Tennis Club, re the state of the water jupply on the Club's lawns.—The Mayor mid the matter related to the inefficient pressure on the high levels, and ib would to advisable to give ib some consideration. —Mr Thorne said that two previous letters m the same subject) had been senb to the 3ity Council, and as nothing had since been lone, he wonld move that this letter be Jso sent on to them? to bring the matter of :he inefficiency of their water supply again jefore thorn,—The motion was carried.
Drinking Fountain. —Mr J. Martin Jrew attention to the necessity for the erection of a drinking fountain in some oarb of the main thoroughfare. On the jnotion of Mr Withy, ib was agroed to ask Mr Littlejohn to furnish an estimate at next mooting of the cost of erecting a jo un tain.
Water Supply. — Mr Jamaß Martin wrote complaining of the high rates being «harged to him for water supplied by *neter. Formerly, he said, the price of water by motor measurement was Is 3d per 1,000 gallons, bub lately the rate had been raised to Is iid per 1,000 gallons. Water was used by him on a wholesale jcale.—Referred to the Legal and Finance Committee.
Deeds.—lb was agreed thab the deeds relating to tho proposed formation of a read '.n St. George's Bay be executed, and the jjeal of the Council be affixed.
Accounts.—Accountß amounting to £31 4s were passed for payment.
Strand Lane.—A recommendation of the 3treebsCommittee for the immediate formajio.n of a concrete wall in Strand Lane was .greed to. The work has been estimated to cosb aboub £25.
Metal and Casting.— Tenders were received from W. A. Hodgson, J. J. Craig »nd J. Peach.—lb was decided to accept Mr Craig's bender for another term of three years. , Dog Registrar.—lb was agreed to appoint Mr P. Gardiner the Dog Registrar {or the ensuing year, his paymenb to be at the rate of 13 por collar.—A tender for the jnpply of dog collars at 7£d from Mr Knight! waa accepted.—The tax was fixed >t 5s per annum, payable at once.
