Laab evening, tho adjourned meeting of $he Devonporb Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers, Noi?th Shore, when there woro present:—Messrs E. W. Alison (Mayor), Macky, Wynyard, Duder, L'ameron, Niccol, and Uutton. ■ v

Stanley-street. —Mr W. J. Charitable Aid Board.—A letter was received from the Socretary of the Auckland Hospital and Charibable Aid Board, ♦bating that thab body saw no good reason for supplying tho names of . local bodies «rhO39 subsidies the Treasury was asked to stop in July last, bub he (the Secretary) ivas authorised to say the number of local bodies in the list aonb was 35.— It was agreed to reply thab bhe Council hoped tho Board would noC repeat their discourteous conduct.

Licensing Election.—lb was reported shab bhe cost of holding election and taking poll under the Alcoholic Liquors Sale Control Act, in the district of Eden, in 1894, was £28 3s Bd, as against £5 for the licenjine election and poll held in 1891. Foreman ok Works.—This official reported that the tram rails in Beach Road bad been lifted and would be removed shortly. A number of footpaths had been coated with tar and sand. The report contained other details of street work done.— The report waa adopted, the Council deciding to erect a barbed-wire fence round ilia waterworks shed, to prevent boys from doing damage there. , Bathino-shed.— Ib was decided to give permission for the erection of a bathingihed on tbo foreshore of Dock-street, towards the Calliope Dock, the Council to contribute £5 towards the cosb, and bhe residents to pay tho balance.

.Watkb. —Ib was decided to erect two additional standpipes for water —one near jirick Bay and the other ab the road leading flown bo bhe western end of Cheltenham Boach.
