From Sydney comes word thab the stallion Navigator died ab his byrher^ place several days ago from an internal disorder. Navigator, who was by Robinson Crusoe fromCocoanub (imp.), by Nubbourne from Miss Vivian, by Rattle, was a splendid performer, and won such races ab V.R.C. Derby, Ascot Vale Stakes, Australian Cup, St Leger, A.J.C. Derby, St. Leger, and Champagne Stakes. Bub he was nob bhe success ab the stud anticipated, though he gob a few winners, including Milebos and Navarine. ■ The Tasmanian Racing Club Derby was won by Silveroid by Mozart from Silverthread by St. Albana from Silverhair, by Cervus. La3b season he won T. T. C. Two-year-old Handicap. Inveresk Stakes, and T.R.C. Sires' Produce Stakes. Nominations for bhe Takapuna Cup, T.J.C. Handicap and Steeplechase are due on Friday night nexb. Ab lasb Chicago races another record was broken, Libertine running a mile.in lmin 38isec. He waa clocked to run the first half in*47isec. , Mr G. G. Stead has named his recent purchases as follows :—Colt by Chainshot— Nautilus, Bombshell ; colb by Medallion— Dudu, Epauleb. Mr Bruce Lowe died of heart disease. The stewards of the English Jockey Club have at length withdrawn the notice warning the once-fashionable jockey, Charles Wood, off Newmarket, Wood was placed under the ban on July 18, 1389, bo that he wae heavily penalised. He has yeb to get hia jockey's license. The late Martin Burke died worth £952, which he bequeathed to his mother. The sum of something Uke £100 was collected for a headstone to his grave, but as only about £25 will be required for that purpose, and the remainder is to be handed to Mrs Burke, the old lady will receive upwards of £i,ooo:
The Australian racehorse Moorehouse, by Moorthorpe — Geraldine, has been purchased by the Indian Government for stud purposes. Moorehouse should make an excellent remount sire.
