James Grainger, cabdriver, deposed to seeing Bowden and Dawson coming up Queen-otreet near Bull's pork butcher's shop on the night in question. They wore babh driving at a jig-jog trot; Witness waa Bfcnnding by Laud's pork butcher'u shop, and as soon as Bowden arrived there he cut across Dawson's horse, and brought him up to a standstill. Bowden then hib Dawson across the head with a whip. Witness had not the slightest doubt but that it was Bowden who struck the blow. Bowden followed Dawßon up the street shouting " I'll level you out," Both cabs turned towards R.utland-street. Afterwards witness saw Bowden come down Welleeleyatreet, and go on the top sband. When Dawson came dow later on his ear was ccst and his nose bleeding. Sergeant McMahon and Constable Brooktng were there when Dawson arrived. Witness knew Given. He went by the name of Gibbons. Witness did not see Given about when the assault took place. (Lefb Bitting.)
