MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS

Woodstock.—The Manager reports thab the foobwall of the lode was cub during the week, and is 12 feob in width, and bhe rich ore maintains an average thickness of 3 feeb. A considerable tonnage of high grade ore haa been grassed, and there ia every indication of the continuance of the rich deposib. A start has been made to roof and weatheiboard the building to cover the cyanide plant, and the waber race is now complebe. Grace Darling.—Assays of ore from this mine have been made recently by Mr Burns and Mr J. Young. Three samples of sbuff were tested by the former gentleman ab the Bank of New Zealand. Two were ore thab had been in contact with the cyanide, and bhe third was ore which had nob been so treated. The resnlbs of the assays furnished to bhe manager of bhe company are as follow :—No. I, gold per ton Bdwts, silver 3ozlldwbs; No. 2, gold 6dwts, silver 3oz 15dwbs ', No. 3, gold Bdwts, silver 3oz lldwts. Mr Young assayed some stone from the Grace Darling which has been lying in Mr D. G. McDonnell's office, and ib yielded bullion ab bhe rate of £56 per ton. These assays, in bhe face of the poor return from the batbery, render mabters all the more inexplicable, and bhe resulb of bhe treatment of'the ton of ore now being taken to the Thames by the directors will be awaited with interest.

Try Fluke. —Tho manager reports bhab during the past four . weeks 540 tons of ore 'were crushed for a return of 3490z of retorted gold. The mosb of the ore crushed was*taken from the stopes on No. 1 and 2 lodes. In the Mariposa section, the reef is 3fb wide, and the prospects are very changeable. The etopes norbh and south from bhe new rise are producing a quantity of payable ore. InvekcaroiUi, this day, A second crushing ab the Golden Site claim has yielded 2190z of gold from 220 tons Btone for bhree weeks' working.
