'-■ ■ ■ Ja^f- ■*■ Hobaet, bbia day. The steamer Devtn struck bhe bar while entering the Mactiuarrie harbour and became a total wreck. Her crew and paisengers were landed nafely.
[The Devon is an iron screw steamer of 50 horse-power and 191 tons gross register, builb ab Paisley in"Scotland in 1876 and registered in Lyttolton the same year. Her dimensions are: Length, 125.7f8 ; breadth, 19.4 f t; and depth, 9.5fb.j
