WAGES FOR HOLIDAYS.
(JST TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
.Wellington, this day. The Finance Committee of the City Council presented a report recommending that no wages be paid for holidays, except Christmas Day and Good Friday. The Mayor said this would affect a saving of about £500 per annum, and would make people more careful about asking the Council to proclaim public holidays. The report, however, was postponed for a month to enable inquiries to be made as to the practice in other towns. i
