John Poat, employed as a braceman at tho May Queen mine, met with a slight accident thia afternoon. The scaffolding on a mullock tip gave way and a truck load of quartz and himself were precipitated on to the mullock. He escaped with a few bruises. The funeral of Messrs Kennedy and Lusher on Saturday at Waikomiti was attended by a largo number of friends of the two deceased. Mr 11. H. Leaning was the undertaker. Both hearses started for the cemetery side by side, the coffins being covered with floral emlems. Tha Mayor, Mr J. J. Holland, Mr Luaher senior, and the brothers of the late Mr J. Lusher wero among the mourners, while the members of tho Fountain of Friendship Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.N., also followod their lato brother. Behind the hearse containing Mr Kennedy's remains was a string of carriages containing members of the Masonic fraternity. Iv all there were forty vehicles at the two funerala. Upon reaching Waikomiti, Mr Lueher'a remaina were borne to the grave by aix members of the Amateur Athletic Club, while four friends carried Mr Kennedy's coffin. The dual service at the graves waejeonducted by the Rev. Scott West. The annual report of the Waihi G.M. Company for the yoar ending December Slat, 1893, shows the gross receipts to have been £61,759 lis Gd'and the expenditure £32,251 5a lOd, leaving a profit balance at £29,538 5s lOd. Out of this three dividends of Is por share each, equal to 15 per cent, per annum on the share capital, have been paid, absorbing £22,500, the additional renumeration of directors, in accordance with aiticlos of association, requires £703 16a, leaving a balance to be carried forward of £6,334 9<» lOd. The sum of £5,000 received from the sale of tailings has been credited to tho net expenditure account on the property, thereby reducing it to £149,815 12s, or rather less than the share capital of the corripany. Tho whole ot tho expenditure for the year, including outlay on plant ond mine developments, haa been charged against revenue. During the year 19,805 toua of ore were treated, producing bullion to the value of £61,745 13a 2d. A fourth dividend of la per Bhare on account of the year 1894 was paid on the 2nd April last. To-day, the Magiatrate'a Court has been occupied hearing a case against Ada Hooper, Jack Wynn, and George Wynn, who are charged on the information of Johanna Frater with having, on the 15th of May last, at Devonport, unlawfully interfered with cattle seined by the informant for tho purpose of being impounded. Mr F. Baumo appeared for the informant, and Mr Napier for defendants. This case had been adjourned from timo to time. Evidence waa taken, and Mr Northcroft fined each defendant; 40s e_ch, with total coats £2 la, to bo divided equally between them.
Our-Thames correspondent wired this afternoon :—"The May Queen hard bar has been penetrated at the low level." Notwithstanding the many counter attraction last evening, thore wos a very good attendance at the Christiana' Meeting House, Cook street, when MrF. W. Greenwood nddresaed an attentive audience on the subject of "Divine Philosophy." The judicious use of tho blackboard during the address had the effect of making clearer and moro deeply impressing the divine truths which the speaker had to proclaim.
