THE CHRISTCHURCH BANK ROBBERY.
CONFESSION OF A TELLER,
(BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
Christchurch, this day. A few days ago it was reported to the police that the sum of £500 bad been stolon from tho National Bank. Y.esterday afternoon Hugh H. Rich, a toller in the bank, gave himself up at the police-station and confessed to having stolen tho money. He will be brought before tho Police Court today.
Afc the Magistrate's Court to-day, Hugh Robert Rich, employed as teller at the National Bank, wae charged with stealing 500 sovereigns, and was remanded till the 25th. Inspector Broham stated that, though accused had confessed, he had not so far made reatitntion or given any information about the disposal of the money.
