The Mayor takes exception to tbo statement in a Southern paper that the City Council is indolent and neglectful in regard to sanitary matters.- The Hospital returns show that in 1891 there were 118 cases of typhoid and 11 deaths; in 1892, 193 and 16 ; 1893, 96 and 7; and so far thia year, 71 and 3. So far h otn showing indolence, the Mayor claimed, whan laying these figures before the. Council, that they argued to the contrary.
