NEW AUSTRALIA.

REMARKABLE LETTER FROM MR % LANE.

The " Worker " publishes a portion of a remarkable- letter, addressed by Mr William Lano, the late director of New Australia, Paraguay, to Mr W. W. Head. The concluding part is as follows :—" To me, turning with aching heart from wrangling nr.d groping, Truth has whispered. To mo, sinking in the self-knowing agony on tho dungeon-floor of life, Freedom has shown what might be. To me, faltering often because Wrong triumphs, the knowledgo of how Justice is ever done has come. For~God has given a task to me who am unworthy, and lias nob deserted me altogether, though for years I havo tried to do his work without doelaring him openly, relying on my own intellect rather than on the Supreme will, and shrinking from the scon's and jeers of men. It is reaping of my own sowing that the Settlement we have tried to build has been uncemented by the sense of God, without which there can be no firm trust among men. 1 am sinful, as we all are. To know oncsolf is to learn how weakness and evil struggle in every life to crush down strength and good, and hew it is only by ceaseless ofl'ort that the good in men asserts itself. It is in ignorant men who would be wise, in sinful men who would be better, in selfish men who would be unselfish, in wrongdoer's who would do rightly, thab the will of God must first be manifest. And if in my message thore is aught of good to any man unfelt by him before, sinful as I am, I am to him a guide guiding him in Gods name, as God has guided and ia guiding me."
