THE CHIEF INSPECTOR OF THE AUCKLAND SCHOOLS.

Dunidin, this day. At the Education Board the following motion was carried unanimously :—" That the resignation of Mr Petrie be accepted with much regret, and that the Board fcsetify t'aelr appreciation of bhe able, conscientious, and thorough manner in which he bad for twenty years discharged, the duties of senior inspeotor of this Board, and thab a copy of this minute be forwarded to Mr Petrie." Mr Cohen, in moving the motion, said he could honestly say that Mr Petrie had discharged his duties in the manner in which the resolution set forth, and he was satisfied that they were parting with a very valuable officer.
