KETCH GRATITUDE IN A GALE.
THREE MEN LOST.

Bluff, Saturday. The ketch Gratitude arrived to-day from McQu.irrio Islands. During the voyage of ■ the Gratitude, at 8.30 a.m. on the 26tfc instant, when in latitude 52*47, longitudi 65*21 E., a sea of exceptional sise struck the vessel, washing ovetboard the cook, R. W. Green, aged 32, a native of London, and , married, with a family residing at Devon- * port, East Tasmania; also D. Henderson, aged 23, A.8., a native of Scotland ; and John Portlick, a half-caste employed on the island, belonging to Colac Bay. Green and Porblick were ab work in th» * galley, which was swept overboard, to- s gether with two boats. Nothing whatever was seen of the met after their going overboard, although tot vessel was hove-to.
