FATHER AND SON.
An unusual case was called at the Police Court this morning, William John Robert Garrard being charged with having converted to his use £27 10s. the monies of bis father, William Goorge Garrard. Mr H. W. Northcroft, S.M., said he had received a lebter from the defendanb stating he had no means with which to come to Auckland, added to which he had been picked. Mr Northcroft said he would nob bhink of issuing a warrant for tbe defendant. The complainanb had no righb bo bring up a charge and wibhdraw ib bhree bimes, as had already been done in this case. If the summons had been laid before him be would nob have issued ib under those circumstancos.
Mr Madden, who appeared for the prosecution, said he had no intention of asking for a warranb, but under the circumstances he would apply for a remand. Mr Northcroft said he had told Mr Garrard that ib was one of the greatest mistakes he could possibly make to bring up his own flesh and blood in that manner.
Mr Madden eaid he had mentioned that himself to Mr Garrard, bub he inaisted in going on wibh tho case. Mr Northcroft granted the remand, and added, "I tell you candjdly I won't bring him back upon a warrant."
