ABBOTT'S OPERA HOUSE.
THE ALHAMBRA COMPANY.
That Auckland is one of the best tbeatrica 1 towns of its size in bhe Australasian colonies haß on more than one occasion been proved. The patronage now being accorded to Mr Frank Clark's Alhambra Company at tbe Opera House.is thoroughly well deserved. The entertainment is bright, criep, and witty, besides being absolutely free from the slightest taint of vulgariey. Last nighb the Opera House was again crowded, the dress circle being particularly well patronised. The long and varied programme was immensely enjoyed, and encores were the order of the evening, no artist being allowed to escape this penalty. The eccentricities of Messrs Frank Clark and Harry Shine kept the house in roars of laughter, and brought the entertainment to a close. This evening the present programme will be repeated for positively the lasb time, as the managemenb intend, prior to the termination of the season, which must close cm the 17th, to produce a series of novelties which created o furore during the Christmas season at the Melbourne Opera House. So far as presenb appearances go the Alhambra Company have got a very firm hold of the Auckland public, and for the sake-of tbe heavy expenses under which the managemenb have been pub in bringing bo large and capable a company to New Zealand, it is to be hoped that the liberal patronage will be continued until the close of the visit. An entire change of programme is promised for to-morrow evening.
