THE BAILLIE RELIEF FUND.

Over six hundred people crowded th« Salvation Army's Albert-street Barracks last evening to listen to "The History of the Salvation Army in Music, Song and Story," the proceeds being donated bo the # Baillie Relief Fund. Staff Captain Edwards directed the proceedings, and on the platform, in addition to the officers and soldiers of bhe Auckland corps, were tbe Newton contingent under the command of Captain Harvey and Lieubenanb Boldt, and the Parnell contingent commanded by Captain Allison and Lieutenant Dixon. The "Musical History" was well rendered by a company of Salvation songsters, under the direction of Mr L. VV. Gladding, the connecting narrative being read by Staff-Captain Grinling. The various numbers wore sympathetically and enthusiastically received by the audience, an encore being demanded in one instance. Misa Pickett presided at bhe piano in a highly efficienb manner. The response to the appeal for a collection on behalf of Mrs Baillie and family was a liberal one, and the announcement that the sum of £10 bad been totalled was received with vociferous cheering. Mra Staff-Captain Grinling closed the meeting with the benediction. An analysis of the cash collected gives the following resulb:—l2 half-pennies, 150 pennies, 170 three-penny pieces, 108 sixpences, 51 shillings, 6 florins, 7 half-crowns and 1 h^lf-aoyereign, or a totaledoos coins. All arrangemenbs are now cbmplebe for bhe sacred concerb bo be given in aid of the Baillie relief fund ab the City Hall oa Sunday afternoon next. A very strong and attractive programme of vocal and inabrumenbal items has been prepared* besides which Mr Monbagae will recite Dickens'pathetic sbory of "The Deabh of Jo.'' Tickets are now on sale, and the public are requested to avoid bbc inevitable crush ab bhe doors by obtaining tickets of admission beforehand.
