OUR VOLUNTEERS.

RETURN OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES REPS.

Sergeants Dough by and Osborne, Corporal Webster, Volunteer Tobin and Bombardier Brown, who have been attending the New South Wales Rifle Association Meeting, reburned yesberday by bhe s.s. Manapouri. Volunteer Leigh remained behind, and haß gone on to Melbourne on a holiday. One of the representatives informs us that on bhe whole bhe few New Zealanders who competed at the meeting held their own. However, the men are very sore ab being disqualified in the Rifle Club Teams Match and Champion Teams Match, more especially as tho N.S. W. Association firsb receiyed bheir entrance money, then allowed them to fire in the matches, but afterwards disqualified them. Bad the N.S.W. Council not done this, there would not have been bo much cause for complaint. It? will be remembered thab Petone won the Champion Teams Match and was thon disqualified. The Auckland and Pelvone men who won prizes in the Rfifles Club Teams Match also did not recoive their money. It appears thab according to the rules of the N.S.W. Rifle Association, a man cannob compete as a member of bbc volunbeer force, and belong bo a civilian rifle club. The Aucklanders entered as members of bhe volunteer force, and competed as members of the Auckland Martini Club, bence the disqualification. The Petone men entered aa civilians of a rifle club, and ib appears bhab bwo of the team belong to volunbeer companies. Bombardier Brown, of bhe "A" Babtery, topped the lisb of New Zealand prize winners with £20. Corporal Webster, of tie '• A " Battery, won £10; and Volunteer r_Cobin, of tho City Guards, £10.
