Mr W. Kelly, tho present member, has announced his candidature for the Bay of Plenty seat against all comers, aud Col. Fraser is expected hero nexb week to addross tho electors. Both declared candidates aro Government supporters and this fact has led to much talk amongsb tho electors as to tho reason of these bwo members choosing this electorate.

Mr Edwin Edwards, of Paoroa, has written to the papor saying ho is likely to stand and thab ho would be an independent Liberal.

Ibis also rumoured than tho Roy. Charles Jordan of thia town is likely to stand iv bho interest of tho temperance party, ho having beon asked to do so. Mr. Thos. Mace Humphreys, a Tauranga solicitor, also privately declarer his intention to becomo a candidate.
