Wellington, this day. Blake, whose wife is in custody on a charge of having attempted to poison her husband, ia in an exceedingly weak condition in tho Hospital, and his depositions will probably be taken this afternoon.

Thames, this day. Therk was an unusually largo attendance of the members of local bodies and leading citizens at tho Warden's Court to-day, when Mr Northcroft was congratulated upon his promotion to Auckland as Dr. Gilea' successor. On every hand regret was expressed at his departure from the Thames. Several speakers wore most laudatory in tbeir remarks.
