A RECORD-BREAKER.
The Miowera has the roputation, so far, of being the fastest stoatner trading between the colonies and San Francisco. In January last, while running in the New Zealand and Australian trade, she broke the record from Sydney to Auckland, having performed the 1,280----mile passage in 3 days 10 hours 52 minutes, the fastest on record botween tho two ports. On that occasion she beab the Union Steamehip Company's steamer Rotomahana by 3 hours 3 minutes. This performance showed that hor average speed on tho trip across was 15J knots per hour. She has frequently exceeded this since, however. Tho Miowera ia under tho command of Captain Btott. late of the Union Steamship Company. Captain Stott brought the steamer oub from England to Anfitralia lasb year.
