A deputation waited on him without effect Sandwich men wore then pub on the sbreebs asking people to observe the half-holiduy, and handbills were circulated to the same effect. In the evoning a crowd gabhered in front of the one shop. Ib was expected tho off nor was going to keep opeD, bub he did nob and tho demonstration passed off harmlessly. At a meeting of the Eurly Closing Association thia ehopkeepor'a action was strongly cribicised, and it was decided to obtain legal opinion as bo whether he could be forsed to keop the agreement.
