CREMATION OF A CHILD BY ITS FATHER.

A curious case of tho cremation of a child by its father, a man named Palmer, is reported from Barcaldino, Queensland. It appears that a man named Machlin, when passing the Home Creek coach changing place, midway between Barcaldine and Blackall, saw Palmer, who is 65 years of age, burying something at a big fire. Palmer bold him that his wife's child had died, and bo had put bhe body in the box with the intention of burying it, but finding the ground too bird for sinking he resolved upon cremation, and while burning tho body Machlin passed by. Palmer made no SQcreb of what he was doing. Machlin reported the matter to Sergeanb Malone, who went out on Saturday and saw a few charred remains, including portion of an infant's skull, These he brought to Barcaldine. There ia no suspicion of any thing criminal about the proceedings, bub the police are investigating the matter.
