BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETINGS.
PARNELL'.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the above Council waa held last niglu\ when there were present: The Mayor (Mr McCabe), Grs. Thornes, Withy. Gilmour, WiJitley, Pollard, Pago and Brigga. This Domain.—A letter was vena irom Mr P. Lawry, M.H.R., forwarding a copy of the Auckland Domain Vesting Bill, and also stating that Mr Thompson was willing to accept the amendment in clause six", as indicated, and is further willing to accept a clause absolutely prohibiting the loosing of any of the frontages or other portions of the Domain. The amendment to clause 6 alterod tho wording from " to be a recreation ground for tbe inhabitants of Auckland " "to the colony of New Zealand generally."—Cr. Gilmore moved that a wire be sent to Mr Lawry stating that as Parnell adjoins the Domain, tho borough should bo represented upon the Domain Board.—Thia was agreed to, Gr. Pollard stating that Newmarket should also be represented.—Or. Gilmore mentioned that the paths leading into Parnell wore totally neglected. Waiek Supply. — The Town Clerk, Auckland, wrote offering to pub in new valves and allow £24 robate upon the last quarter's charge for water in settlement of complaint re increased cost of supply.—lt was decided to accept the amount offered. St. Geokgjj's Bay Road.—A letter was read from Messrs Heskebh and Richmond with regard to tho road proposed to be dedicated in front of Messrs Withy and Dilworth's property in St. George's Bay. Tho opinion was to the effecb thab the Board was only liable for the formation and maintenance of the portion at St. Barnabas' Point, to which the Harbour Board inighb contribute half.—Tho matter waa referred to the Legal Committee. Parnell Home.— Some discussion arose regarding tho drainage of the property of the Parnell Orphan Homo. Finally it was agreed that the whole Council should meet on the ground nexb Saturday at three o'clock to diacusa the mattor with tho trustees of the Parnell Orphan Homo.
Streets Committee.—The roporb of the Streets (Jomtnittoe dealb with a number of minor rnattors. The formation of a footpath in fronb of Miss Matson'a now house in Gibraltar Crescent, recommended by the Committee, was referred to tho Mayor and tho Foreman of Works. — With regard to tho lebtor of Mr W. Coleman re iv right-of-way on the estate of tho late Jamos Loslie, it waH agreed to grant tho roquost subjoeb to conditions that no buildings should bo erected fronting such righta.-of-way.—Tho tondor of A. Smith was accopted to cub and remove trees from tho proposed sico of the now firo brigade station at 8s per tree.—Tho rocommondation of tho Streota Committee that the station should bo erected was referred to the Legal and Finance Committee to consider ways and means. Tbndjjks.—Tho tender of Mr J. J. Craig was accoplod for supplied as follows :— Hand broken motal, ss; machine broken, 4s lid ; rough scoria, 2s 6d ; fiuo scoria, 2s 3ld ; one team per day, 12s 6<i ; one horse and cart, 9a per day ; sand for asphalting, 4d por bushel. Committees. —Cr. Pollard was placed on the Stroeta Commifcteo, and Cr. Whitloy on the Finance Committee.
DEVONPORT. Lasb evoning the usual business meeting ' of the Devonporb Borough Council was held in tho Council Chambers, North Shore, tliero being present:—MessraE. VV. Alison (Mayor, presiding), 'Mason, Hnmmond, Lankham, 0. Mays, Avenell. R. Wynyard, and S. C. Macky. New Councii-loks.—Messrs R. Wynyard W. Avenell, and S. C. Macky, tho newlyelocted councillors, mado the usual statutory declaration, and took their seats at tho Council. The Mayor congratulated Cr. Avenoll on his re-election, and welcomed tho two nowcomera to the Council. Pound Kbkl'kk.—A letter was road from R. Davis making complaints with regard to t!io manner in which the Poundkeepor, Mr Nicholson, discharge! his duties, and stating that ho did not feed impounded catblo properly, and did nob wator them, etc. The poundkeoper, who waa present ab tho meeting, denied tho charges made by Davis.—Tho A'ayor said he knew some of tho statoraonts made against Nicholson were absolutely incorrecb.—The letter of complaint was received, and the question of regulations in resDoct to the pound was deferred till next meeting. Waterworks Shaft.—Mr Wallace, of Lake Takapuna, wrote asking for payment of £4, being a claim for loss through a cow owned by him being drowned in the waterworks Bhafb sunk by the Council at Takapuna on land occupied by him.—lt was decided to defer consideration of the letter till next meeting of the Council. Building Permits.—lt was decided that in future all applications for permits to erect buildings be referred ab once to tho inspector of Buildings to tho Council, who should report on them to the noxt meeting of the Council. It was stated that the usual practice for builders locally waa to send in applications for pormits to build when the buildingo iti question were nearly completed. Refund of License Fee.—An application made by R. Martin for the refund of his fee for stage coach liconße—cancelled at lasb mooting of the Council—was declined. Clarence-street.—A petition waa presented by Councillor Macky signed by thirty-seven ratepayers in Clarence-street and vicinity, asking tho Council not to repair the present row of steps leading from Clarence-street to tho Brick Bay Road, bub to remove them, aa they were very irregular and dangorous, and instead, to grade the road properly.—The matter was relegated to such members of the Council nB chose to meet and the Foroman of Works, to meet on the ground on Saturday night, and report to the next meeting. ONEHDNGA. Tho usual fortnightly meeting of tho above Council was held last night. Present : Dr. Erson (Mayor), Mossra McKonzie, Tapp, Court, James Shaldrick, Rowe, Barr, Sutherland and HillsNew Councillors.—Messrs Rowe, Shaldrick and Hills made tho usual declaration, and were congrarutated by the Mayor upon their re-election.
A Complaint.—Mr Hutchison, tho lessee of Mount Smart resorve, wrote complaining of tho hardship to him in having to repair fences and gates broken down by men in carting scoria from the reserve.—.Referred to Reserve Committee.
An Application.—Mr Allen Jouea wrote announcing his intention to use water for driving power in connection with the water wheel he was about to erect, and asking the Council to facilitate the granting of his application. — Referred to Waterworks Committee.
A New Industry. — Mossra Saunders wrote, stating it was their intention to commence the burning and sale of lime, and nskod ,for permission of the Council to erect a kihj near tho coal wharf, Onehunga.— Referred to Reserve Committoo to roporc.
New Uniforms Wanted.—Mr Skinner, Secretary of the l?iro Brigade, wroto calling the attention of tho Council to the state of tho firemen's uniforms, which wore stated to bo in a bad condition.— Referred to Finance ComnHJrftoo to confer with officers of the Brigado ab^ bring up a report.

Committees.—The following committees were, upon the motion of the _ Mayor, seconded by Mr McKenzie, appointed :— Streets Committee: Messrs Sutherland. Hills Rowe and Courb. Reserves : Messrs Sutherland, Hills, T&\pp and McKenzie. Finance and General: Messrs Barr, Rowe, Shaldrick and Court. Waterworks: Messrs Barr, Court, Hill, Rowe and Shaldrick. . , Footpath. —Mr Tapp again proposed, "Thab a footpath be formed to the To Papapa Railway Station," to which ho had already drawn the attention of the Council. —Mr Barr seconded.—After a long discussion the matter was referred to the Streets Committee to bring up a report. . Crossings.--A suggestion to form street crossings in all principal streets of tho botough, waa referred to the btroots Committee. ___—.
