AUCKLAND COLLEGE, AND GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD.
The ordinary mooting of the Auckland College and Grammar School Board was hold yesterday aftornoon. Present: Col. Haulbain (in the chair), Rev. C. M. Nelson, Professor Brown, Messrs Cooper, Luke, and Crowther.
Rentals. —Messrs E. Lewis, A. Campbell, and Dr. Wilkins wrote a long reply to the Board in roferenco bo reducing the prospective rentals of their leasehold properties in Symonds-streob.—Consideration of the matter was doforrod for a fortnight, to enable certain calculations to be made.
A Dispute.—Mr Caleb Wood waited upon the Board in reference to a writ) which hart been issued against him in connection with his removal of a cottage from an allotment; of the Board's at Parnell, and which is set down to come before the R, M. Court this week. —Mr Wood said he did not wish to be forced into Court, and said he purchased the lease on the understanding that he could remove tho building.—lt was agreed to instruct the solicitors to have tho case adjourned for another week, pending the Property Committee looking into tho conditions of eale and comparing same with tho lease.
Rknkwal of Lease. n-Mr YV. S. Jones offered bo renew tho lease of his property in Wynyard-strcol) for five or ten years at the preaenb rental of £41 per year.—Referred to the Pioperty Committee with power to acb. Free Pupils.— Mr J. W. Tibbs reported on the work of the pupils of the College and Grammar School who are entitled to free education. Ho said that in all cases the attendance had been regular oxcopt during the epidemic of mo.isles, and chat the progress of all was satisfactory.
Insurance. — The National Insurance Company asked for a share of insurance business at the Board's disposal.—On the motion of Mr Luke the whole question of insurance was referrod to the Property Committee to report to the next meeting of the Board.
Tenders. — Thirteen tenders were received for building two cottages facing Parnell Rise. — Tho highost tender was £410. Mr R. R. Roes (£397) was the lowost. —Referrod to tho Property Committee.
Retaining Wall.—A letter from Mr J. P. King asking for a retaining wall to be built in Wynyard-street, was referred to the Property Committee with power to act.
