The Sydney-owned barque Kosciusko, which arrived ab Sydney last week from Gothenburg (Sweden), reported a sad accident during the voyage. One of the apprentices, Albert Bear, a son of Mr Superintendent Bear, of the Sydney Fire Brigade, when in the act of loosening the main topgallant sail fell into the sea and was drowned. Ho was never seen after passing the ship's quarter, either from the deck or aloft, but sank ab once. The ship at the time was running before a fresn gale and a heavy sea. The main topsail halyards were let go and the foresail let fly ab once and tho ship rounded to at some risk, bub no one caught sight of him ; indoed, had he been seen, ib is doubtful if a boab could have lived to reach him. He muob have fallen 140 ft.
